Reason to Succeed

By Isa Taariq Mutaliph

By words of Tony Hsieh, the Zappos CEO, as I quote

“ Chase the vision, not the money; the money will end up following you.”

Today I want to explain you readers about how we can build up our business.

I’m excited to talk about how big business have succeeded and how factors in a startup industry has been organised.

I believe startup is great start or you can say an exercise to make a better world. If you take a group of people and organize themselves and teach about it, you can expect them to do unbelievable things.

I’m a student doing my degree course in some college. I have been to so many internships , many seminars about business, I learnt alot from this activities. I may not be that good in my studies but learning from professional people I have great ideas In starting a business. Like Mike Tyson would say :

Nothing will be a success if you get punched to your face

So, now people are telling Startups are so great, why do many fail to do so, that’s why I’m here to let my instincts know about how to build up success. I wanted to know this cause I have researched many companies in past two months and I researched this company called “ Levis”. See, as you can Google them you can see they are one of the top garment brands, but if you can see in the past, the maker Levi Strauss was just an ordinary businessman. At the age of 24 he went to open a West Coast branch of his brothers’ New York wholesale dry goods business. Over the next 20 years, he built his business into a very successful operation, making a name for himself not only as a well-respected businessman, but also as a local philanthropist. One of Levi’s customers was a tailor named Jacob Davis and as I quote:

“WE MADE OUR FIRST JEANS OUT OF DENIM - THE TRADITIONAL FABRIC FOR MEN’S WORKWEAR. WITHIN A VERY SHORT TIME, THE JEAN WAS A BONA FIDE SUCCESS.”

Modern jeans began to appear in the 1920s, but sales were largely confined to the working people of the western United States, such as cowboys, lumberjacks, and railroad workers. Levi’s jeans apparently were first introduced to the East. craze of the 1930s, when vacationing Easterners returned home with tales (and usually examples) of the hard-wearing pants with rivets. Another boost came in World War II, when blue jeans were declared an essential commodity and were sold only to people engaged in defense work.

So they may have many achievements and many failures, so we must keep in mind about certain factors which are used in failure and success in building up in business.

If you want to build up, first come with idea, like the aha moment , then I come with a team, execution which mattered more than idea, it’s like a kick to your face , then I thought about business models about how their revenue will go and it keeps me a question, Does the company have a clear path of generating revenue from customers ? How they do it ? And about what it mattered most of the success. Then I checked on funding and researched whether some companies received an intense amount of funding. And then timing to know whether it is too early, whether the consumers will love it, when to do it, where to do it, how to do it . Then I rearranged these five

  • Idea
  • Team
  • Business model
  • Funding
  • Time

What do you think will come first ,

Confused…..

Well, as my view first comes time as you need to think about your work. Second team as to what part they’ll have to take , third an idea as to what your business consist of , fourth business models and lastly your funds .

This give me shocking results , let’s take an example of Uber , they have good business model, ideas but most important are the drivers. Drivers play an important role here or YouTube they are leading websites with great timing, with great ideas and comes to me , they just started with no business models.

So, as I conclude this talk I would love to say that team and execution is very important, idea matters too, but all of this , the timing is the most important thing here, and what it means is that you make sure whether you know when the consumers really know when to consume when to sell them. So what we learned is time is very important and show your ideal time as to when you want to build up your success. As I said earlier we are not just making things to get money but we are trying to make a better place from small job to great expectations.
